Hallo everybody.
I'm looking for an ultra wide zoom lense for my digital Canon camera.
The original Canon Zoom is too expensiv for me. There are two lenses which are interesting the Sigma 10-20 or the Tokina 12-24, but I dont know which one to take.
So I'm asking you. Which one is the better choice? For those who have one of them, are you satisfied what are the pros an cons.
I thank you for all your help

The Tokina and the Sigma are both excellent lenses. I have the Sigma myself, and am very happy with the results. Take a look in my gallery, you will find quite some pictures I took with the Sigma (in the Cityscape and Landscape section). Some advantages of the Sigma are that it goes wider, making the results even more dramatic. Furthermore, the lens has HSM focussing, which is very quick and very quiet. However, the Sigma does vignet when it is wide open (have never noticed it in real life shooting though).
The Tokina, on the other hand, is a bit longer, has a constant apperture of f/4 (though when using wide angle lenses for landscapes, you usually stop down the lens anyway). The lens is prone to flare, though, and has quite some chromatic abberations.
Distortions on both lens are controlled quite well and the build quality of both is excellent. The sharpness on both lenses is very good, provided that you have a good copy of the lens. The results I get with my lens are very sharp most of the time.

Did you ever consider buying a used lens? I recently purchased my first pre-owned lens, a 90 day old Canon 10-22 w/hood for $550.

wow! that's awesome!
I picked the 10-22 from Canon due to it's low distortion performance vs. the other two brands. Tokina has a stronger build. But I don't remember playing catch with my dog using any of my lenses....;)
