As a way of introducing myself, I'll just post a couple of pictures I took and hope you enjoy. :)
I've been lurking around for a few days and I enjoy the community spirit and advice I've seen. I'm relatively new to the world of digital SLR's. Let me tell you, it was a little hard to take the batteries out of my 35mm SLR (Minolta Maxxum 7, which I loved) and put it away. But using film was getting to the point of stifling me creatively because of the cost and environmental impact.
So here's one of the first pictures I took shooting with the D80:

I have rarely been successful taking aquarium shots, but I rather like how this one turned out, even if it isn't perfectly focused.

I see you bought a Nikon. You seem to have some very nice photos. That one of Florida reminded me of Italy for some reason. Any particular reason why you went Nikon instead of getting the Sony Alpha (which would work with your Minolta lenses)?

They look nice to me. What an interesting sea creature.

Thanks for the comments. :)
Rhys, I seriously considered the A100 due mainly to the lens situation. A couple of minor factors for choosing Nikon included the storage (I already have several SD cards) and Nikon's reputation. I've really enjoyed it so far. :)
Oh and that first one should remind you of Italy a little...it's the Waterfront at SeaWorld, which is designed to look like a Meditteranean village. ;)

I looked at Cameta's kit, but this is actually from a place in Florida called digitalcorp. Glad you liked the sea dragon. :D

Proof again that the camera only processes the image that the photgrapher sees.
You're doing just fine.;)

Thanks, Mr. Riehm. ;)
I forgot to post this one in the leaf thread, so I'll add it to this one. Taken at Leu Gardens, Orlando.

YIKE! What a seadragon. It looks exactly like those dragons from children comic books. Thanks for sharing.
Up to now, I thought all seadragon looked like this:

That's a "weedy" sea dragon. My pic is a "leafy" sea dragon. Really. :)

Thanks for the clarification. I learn more about nature since taking up photography seriously. You can't help seeing through lens and appreciating them.
