I hope this is the appropriate location for this:

I am going to purchase the new Canon Rebel and would like to also get some accessories to do some photo shoots. I work for a school and we have budget for this, however, I do not know much about this stuff and am looking for good quality but not needing the highest-end items. The photoshoots will be headshots and full-body poses that will be used for websites and interactive multimedia.

1. Can anyone recommend a good light meter and any accessories we will need for using it?

2. Can anyone recommend any other accessories for doing the shots (we are currently looking into different lighting kits) what else should I look into?

Thanks!!!!

Setup with tungston lighting and use the built-in meter. That's the route I'd take anyway. These days with digital being so easy to colour-balance there seems little point in expensive lighting setups. As long as the lights are all the same there should not be a problem, IMHO.

1. What do you mean by "setup with the tungston lighting?" Is this a lighting kit? Is there a specific kit you are referring to?

Sorry for my ignorance.

Thanks for your help!!!

For economy, some angle-poise lamps with normal bulbs should do everything you desire lightingwise.

You'll also need a background. I've seen bed linen used for that before now.
