Sony needs a compact with more than 3x zoom

Most major brands have a compact (non-ultrazoom) with 4x-10x zoom yet Sony only offers 3x. When is Sony going to catch up and release a compact with more than 3x?

Canon A700/A710 - 6x, A630/A640 and A553/A540 - 4x
Fuji F650 - 5x
Kodak C875 - 5x, V610 - 10x
Nikon S4/S10 - 10x, L5 - 5x
Pan TZ1 - 10x, LZ3/LZ5 - 6x

I completely agree, and have asked this many times - to myself... LOL. They could at LEAST do a 4x zoom, and fool us into believing they've given us a lot more zoom! :D

and their cameras' should also include an image stabilization as well, check Panasonic counterpart in compact cameras'

They have 6X optical zoom and image stabilization and 6 MP camera??!!

Yes it seems Sony is falling behind the competitors for point and shoots and small cameras. If they could make a P200 with 4x-6x zoom and IS that would be great.

yeah.. why don't they upgrade optical zoom ability bigger than 3x?
