View Full Version : sanyo C6 camcorder/camera.
Hi, hopefully someone can help me with my problem. I purchased a Sanyo C6 camcorder/camera...everything works fantastic with it except for one problem, I cant get my p.c. to find the driver for it.I have installed the seperate card reader and that works fine...downloads film clips and pictures but I would rather download straight from the camera. I have all the leads and two Sanyo discs for photo software etc ( I presume the driver is on one of these discs as it says "usb driver" on one of them). I am using windows 98se and as you may guess I am not the most experienced p.c. user!!
Thanks....Alby.
With Windows 98 you need to install the driver.

Frankly, with W98 you are probably better off using the card reader. It'll be faster and more stable than downloading directly from the camera, but that's not what you are asking about. :)
When you load the CD on your computer, does it automatically give you an install page? If not, have you tried running the setup.exe on that CD?

Thanks for the reply JLV....I assume the driver is contained in the cd which I have already loaded, but my p.c. still says that it cannot find a driver for this device! Ah well I`ll keep on trying anyway...Thanks.;)

I appreciate your reply David, I may just use the card reader alone but I hate the idea of plugging in and out the card and connections as it`s bound to damage the connections eventually.
When I load the cd I do get an install screen with two software packages on ( acrobat reader and movie director) , nothing about driver although it does say usb driver printed on the actual cd!...back to trial and error for a while...I`ll let you know if I manage to get it going!! Thanks again...Alby:o

I've been using card readers for 2 years, no problems with any cards so far. And I shoot a lot. If you are using CF cards there may eventually be a problem with the pins but otherwise I wouldn't worry about it. There really isn't much wear and tear on the card by using a card reader.
