I'm excited that my 30D will finally be arriving tomorrow.
I ordered a 30D w/spare battery and grip
17-55mm IS, 85mm 1.8, & 580EX, and a few 2GB Extreme IIIs.
I had planned on ordering the 10-22 & 70-200 IS at the same time but decided to buy these lenses in another month after I'm more comfortable with the camera. I'm still feeling overwhelmed by the learning curve on last week's iMac purchase, not to mention having to learn Photoshop & Aperature.
Hope to be posting pictures soon.

You might want to purchase those lenses now - the 17-55 is not included in the rebate and you will get double rebates with the 10-22 and the 70-200. It's not much, but you will still save a few bucks...

Doesn't the rebate period run through mid January?
Rich, I went pretty much the same route as you. Resisted buying three or four lenses at once until I got comfortable with my XTi and figured out what focal lengths I needed. Not to mention the fact that rebates hadn't started yet when I made my first purchase, and I still can't decide which telephoto lens I want.

Nice, I'm hoping my 350D comes tomorrow too :) I decided I just couldn't afford the 30D. I ended up getting a 10/10 condition pre-owned one from B&H for $520.. :D Got the shipping notice today

Nick- I haven't taken a picture since I returned the H2 when I came back from Bora Bora in August. The 20 years with no shooting prior to that two week trip and the two months of no shooting since the trip is part of what led up to my getting cold feet at the last minute about spending over $6k on camera gear all at once.
Since I didn't have the 85mm f/1.8 on my original purchase list I'm beginning to wonder if this was just my way to justify why I needed it since I expect that it won't be many weeks before I convince myself to get the other two lenses.

EXCELLENT!!! Just in time for a long weekend shoot!!!
Shouldn't take too long for the battery to charge. I think mine was about 75% full when I got it.
Can't wait to see some shots!!!

Just ordered a new lens today- a 70-200IS f/2.8. Hoping it will arrive by the weekend to shoot my nephew's first day of roller hockey league. So much for the concept of pacing myself.
(I was going back and forth between this and the 135 f/2 for this purpose and came 'really' close to buying both before I came to my senses)

Well done Mate, but alas I fear the 135 may be the better tool for the job.:(
I assume it's inside?

Hehe, nice purchase... it's like a domino effect, once you get one, you must have more... :) (Do you have a monopod btw? It'll help for what you're going to shoot with that lens)

Very nice setup. 30D was my original choice until 400D came along.
You just got 70-200mm/f2.8 IS, the lens that I am going to get next. Sometimes, I feel like that should have been the first lens I got, not 24-105mm/f4 IS.
So, what is your next lens, how about 400mm/f2.8L IS or if you got a lot of money, check Canon EF1,200mm/f5.6L USM, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canon_EF_1200mm_lens?
I have two questions.
1. From my understanding 85mm/f1.2 is a very good portrait lens, so I assume it is not very useful outdoor due to its focal length. RichNY, what make you choose it? For indoor shooting?
2. Why can 135mm/f2 do a better job than 70-200mm/f2.8 IS even at indoor? Could 135mm/f2 is not only a prime lens, but it has smaller f-stop? But, how about IS on the 70-200mm?

Unless you can find someone willing to let go of one used, the 1200 has been discontinued. :(
A1. The 85mm L is popular for portraits due to it's focal length (a pleasing magnification with a close working distance) and brightness characteristics. Because of this it's suitable for indoors and outdoor work.
A2. The 135mm L is twice as bright as the 70-200mm f/2.8 L so for indoor sports this can mean the difference between 1/125s and 1/250s in terms of freezing the motion. It's the reason why the 200 f/1.8 is so popular too for indoor sports.

noyjimi- I've held off purchasing a monopod and tripod until the NYC camera show in two weeks. There will be a new line introduced that are built with Gitzo's quality but with newer designs. I'll post some pics after the show.
sunnythepsychocat- I've only got the 85 f/1.8, it's CW whose got the f 1.2. I went with the 85mm because I wanted a fast lens for taking portraits.

Well my 70-200IS f/2.8 arrive today. Wow- amazing build quality; what a difference between this lens and the 17-55IS!
Did anyone notice that this lens is big?;) A took a few rounds of 5fps shots with the lens hood on and my nephew thought I was holding a weapon.

Well up until today I probably spent more time unboxing cameras and lenses than taking pictures. I had a great time shooting my nephew's 1st roller hockey game today- I only used the 70-200 f/2.8 IS.
I realized a few things-
1.) I definately made the right decision to go with the Canon- I shot ISO 1600 the entire time because of low light.
2.) Black ceilings in roller rinks create mood for night skating but are useless to bounce flash.
3.) Even with ISO 1600 f/4 would not have captured many of the pictures
4.) Shooting hockey, even 10 year olds on rollerblades, is challenging in terms of keeping up with the action and zooming properly. I'm happy I'll be getting a chance to improve my skills every Sunday morning.
5.) The OP/Tech Pro Loop (or POTN) camera strap is worth every penny. It was nice on the 17-55, it's awesome when shooting with the 70-200.

I picked up the last of my lenses today, the 10-22 f/3.5-4.5. I had made arrangements to purchase this a few weeks ago; it was my first used lens and I think I purchased it for a fair price ($550 including the lens hood with a copy of the B&H invoice from 90 days ago)
I love wide. Ok, maybe not my first choice in women, but definately in lenses. I'm looking forward to going outdoors and taking some sample shots later in the day but I really liked how much fills the frame when I was playing around indoors ten minutes ago.
