i'm starting to want the bg-e2 also. do you have to put batteries in it to work? or is it only extra batteries?
Plugs into battery compartment on 30D and then you can put one or two batteries in the BG-E2. I can't remember if it comes with it or accesory but has a case that holds AA batteries if you need, eight I believe. I have one but have yet to use it.

I ordered my bg-e2 last week and b&h just reopened after one of their holidays so it shipped yesterday. Should be here tomorrow. I'm so excited! I got to play with a 20d that had one on it and it makes it feel like a completely different (and better) camera.

so here are my first sample shots, i still have a lot, but i dont have much time to edit it, and sorry if i couldnt crop it, im usaing a crappy laptop which doesnt have photoshop, so i dont have any editing software for those images, and i apologise if it takes long for me to update...
most of the shots ive took with this sigma 18-50 are very sharp and nice color compare to the canon one... although it has some trouble focusing at low light while canon focus really fast and smooth... i guess it is true that third party lens are fairly cheap but hunts at low lights with canon bodies...
anothing thing, the bg e2 is a nice grip, totally give me a different feel and look of the camera itself! i only have one camera, if i have a second one, i surely will take it and show it to you guys, somehow i felt like im having a bigger camera and feels lot better :D yes, bg e2 supplies adapter which you can put 6 triple A batteries inside instead of 2 Li ion batteries in it.
i will still continue to take some sample shots and post it soon... :D

Not to be a jerk, but comparisons at this size for anything other than color are pointless. And proper white balance is necessary to judge color.
Other than that it looks good...as does the Canon.

That's the exact same experience I had with the Sigma 18-50 f2.8...Man was it sharp, as long as enough lights were on...

im sorry for the color, i will do this tomorrow at natural light, although i do apologise for the color, as what ive said, the walls are red, and this is the best WB i can do... and i dont have PS to fix it, if i can i would do it :)
yeah, it was sharp, when i zoom it in my camera, i can see the obvoius difference with the canon and sigma one... and it is very sharp... i will post more sample shots soon, was waiting for my new laptop to arrive to i can do some PS as well :D
