i have come acrossed this site from manfrotto which they show a descent tripod, which supports video and digital camera, but the thing here is does it support SLR camera as well? the site is http://www.manfrotto.com/modo
it looks like a very cool tripod and the price is very good as well... but im afraid its not a SLR tripod... any ideas guys?

You could use it...but it's just optimized for smooth panning and tilting required for video.
Text from the website:
"The 785B is ideal for travelling, hiking, sports or even web photo/video applications."
EDIT: It says it only has a 2.2lb capacity. You could use it with the smaller SLRs and small lens but not a 1 series or any major lensing. I don't see how they can advertise it for video though either...unless they just mean P&S digital cams and consumer video cameras.

I was looking at getting the modo. I finally got to look at one in a shop on saturday and it sucks. Well, ok, it's actually very nice, but it would suck for an SLR, so do all the digi ones. Everyone i've spoken to about tripods have said the exact same thing, and that's if you get a manfrotto go for the 190 as a bare minimum. I'm getting the 190ProB and a ball head for my 20D.
Seriously though, if you want a tripod for an Slr, the modo is deffo not it:)

Its a very solid tripod for $220. The only thing I'd change about it is getting a pistol grip - they look weird (which is one reason I never got one) but they are so convenient - much easier to make positional changes.

Spoken like a true CPS member!;)
(....For those of you wondering what I mean - RSS's heads aren't priced for budget shoppers)

In all honesty, I used a fellow photographers Dynatran - The exact same model as "Tha Don's" pictured above - it was probably as solidly built as my Bogen/Manfr but that pistol grip was about 100 times more efficient to use than my thinger-mabobber (the orginal name for the ball heads).

Yah I have a thinger-mabobber on my monopod and I hate it. It's even a Bogfrotto too.
hmmm, i have the same 3021pro and a slightly bigger 488RC2. the thing i'd change first is the RC2 part - it's okay if i mash it down but it could be more solid. i'd like to get an RSS lever clamp and plates but thats like $120-130 for the clamp, $125 for an L plate, and $50 per lens plate but that's more for just the clamping system than my whole tripod setup now
