"The more in-depth (not) analysis shows that, all things considered, it might prove to be a nice enough camera, in a lukewarm way"

And what is the price of it?

IMO the camera still isnt worthy, to many things have been robbed off it.

So many cameras available why not be picky about what you want in a camera?

The Canon forum at DPreviews have a lot of people beating down on the G7.. id hate to see this start here... :( its just so annoying to read the subject lines.. i think people do get the point the G7 isnt worthy of its name.. so what.. forget about it.. be happy with what you have...

I'm looking forward to your test since I'm thinking of selling mu S3 to go with the G7. Can you take pictures outside, clear day ? I would be more interested in the IQ in daylight since I don't shoot that much over 200 iso.

found a review with videos of the G7

http://www.w4rmk.com/canon/G7/shootout.asp

it is compared the G7 with PowerShot Pro1

corps are at 100% even if there is a 2mp difference

someone on an other board did aswer was:

thanks for the pics - i've downloaded three different pics; the stop sign pic, the black/yellow train no. 130 and royal gorge.

what i did was resize in photoshop and downsize the G7 pic to 3264x2448, and then viewed the G7 and the Pro 1 images side-by-side.

the two first i must say it would be very hard to tell apart, and if anything i'd prefer the G7. i know this may be my mind playing a trick on me, so that i won't regret having bought the G7, but i sincerely don't think so. the royal gorge picture though, was clearly in the favour of the Pro 1.

this means that the G7 is well capable of producing pictures that are better than the Pro 1, but that there are certain things the Pro handles better. excactly what and why, i cannot tell you as i'm not a photographer, but i am a graphic designer and i know what a picture will looke like on print. i also wonder what the pixel peeping people out there are thinking, as it makes no sense comparing 100% crops from a 10MP and a 8MP picture, as the 10MP will be able to be downsized to 8MP before output.

on the other hand this obviously also means that the G7 only draws marginal advantage of it's 10MP sensor. it doesn't exactly hurt that it's 10MP, but you don't really gain alot from it either (except maybe for more sales to people who buy by numbers only).

i try to provide you guys with all i find
