It seems that I have some toys in my archive.
Two months ago I shot this when my little girl throw her cuddly toys over the bed. That gave me this idea:

Cat, the ideal is that the pictures were taken and posted within the two week period of the Challenge. But it is a practicle world that we should live in this is for educational purposes. To get us to think about how and what we shoot; photography is about taking pictures. Some view it as a hobby others have higher asperations, either way this is good training and practice. There is also a train of thought out there that you can't learn much from forums I'd like to see that change. So the short answer is do it within the specified time period, but if that's not possible or practicle that's cool too. Have fun cat. hth

Now who on earth would think like that! :D I've been dependent on forums from day one! I bought my first camera from a thread on a bargain forum, sort advice off one when looking to upgrade, advice again when looking for an add-on lens and in between have learnt how to use the ruddy things on threads just like these! Forums are invaluable, access to all that experience for nothing ;)

Just relaying what I had read cat, to a certain extent the writer did have a valid point I might add. All forums are not like this one and they can be time consuming and they should not be your sole source of photographic knowledge. It would be a sad day if no flower ever bloomed and opened up to the world so it could share it's beauty...:)

Idea was right (photograph a toy catalogue that was delivered to my house today) but the execution didn't work (poor lighting, pic taken in my kitchen at 11.30pm.) Might have to try during daylight hours to see if the light is more kind...

I really like the black and white, Cat. The soccer one is nice as well. Impressive shot by Beckham. :D

This thread will be tough for me. I don't have any toys, unless you count my XTi. :D I have three young nieces but I won't see them until Thanksgiving..

Hey AdamW,

The stuffed toys are all my fiancees.
Accumulated over god knows how long a period of time !!!
I have thought about laying them all out end to end but I don't think I would have enough room. The pic doesn't do them justice, they are stacked two and three deep in places....

Hey nate1280,

I like the look of the pic with the in focus section in the middle and on the lettering but is it just me or is that pic quite "noisy"?

I was surprised to see that amount noise but then again it was taken at ISO 1600. I would be interested to see the same pic taken at a lower ISO for a "noise" comparison....

I've been playing around with B/W lately. Took this one today on the beach with my S2 IS. It was just before sunset (as you can tell from the shadow. I'll post the EXIF if anyone is interested (but I guess it doesn't matter as much since I PP'd it), but I shot it in Program mode at 1/160 f/4.0, 'sunny' white balance, and I think 'vivid.' Then I tweaked it with a free B/W PS plugin in IrfanView. Oh - and resized for posting. This is my first attempt at plugins - so be nice! :D

Hope this works...

I like your guitar pics Bower, I own 3 Guitars and a Bass, I have been playing for over 8 years. That wooden one is my favorite, On my old guitar, I sanded all the paint off so that it looked sort of like that.

As for Nate, I like how you had one train in focus and everything else was blurred. I like the one with the higher iso better, The train still has quality, but the blur looks better.

Is there still time to post some toy photos? I hope so, because I've finally taken some after I got my camera back! :D

Here is an old toy that my sister has used in school, to teach her pupils (age 7 to 9) how milk is...made... Pretty cool toy cow - if you squeeze it, it sucks in water or milk (or any liquid, I guess...lol) through its "mouth". Then, you can get it out through the...yeah...you got it... :p Post processing: gamma adjusted, contrast, unsharp mask and resize.

This is a more modern toy. It's the high-tech dog called "Tekno the robotic puppy". A gift from my girlfriend several years ago. :D Post processing: auto contrast and colour, unsharp mask, resize and colour cast adjusted.
