i don't know if i ever posted this before, but here you go. i wouldn't mind going out there are retaking the same shot. this was shot without tripod, i rested the camera on the ledge of the parking garage and kept it as steady as i could with my hands.... 6 second exposure at f/22 and ISO 800(this was before i understood ISO) 50mm...shot with my 50mm f/1.4.
p.s. this isn't cropped at all. and i know you can see the ledge.

Not bad _ only suggestion is to use an aperture around f/8. If I'm not mistaken it'll reduce the star effect on the lighting.

i'm not sure that was an option. i was trying to get the headlights and brakelights to streak across the highway. plus i wanted everything to be in focus. and i like the star effect.
thanks though.

Everything would have still been in focus at f/8 _ just set ISO 100 - Aperture Priority Mode f/8 and you should get plenty a long enough shutter to streak the car and brakes lights.
Due to diffraction on the crop sensor f/22 will actually be a tad softer in the corners than around f/8 ~ f/11.

ok that sounds cool, i'll try it....so i guess the stars are supposed to be a bad thing?

Yea being their pronounced size kinda takes away from the image. You'll still get somewhat of an effect but not near as much.

I'm liking the stars too. I have an old shot that's similiar, but not nearly as dramatic.
