Would a wc-dc58a wide angle converter work with an A700 (or A710)?

Cannon recommends the wc-dc58n, which is much larger and heavier than the 58a. I can live with a slightly smaller conversion (0.75 v. 0.7) and not extending the lens to full telephoto (it may hit the converter).

For that matter, has anyone tested any wide angle converter with the Canon A700 or A710? I'm trying to get something lighter and smaller than the WC-DC58N, but with high optical quality.

Wide lenses are tricky, in order to make them useful they have to be big like that and block the viewfinder and the flash to work opticly.

What ive found is that when they are small there is vignetting in the corners and in order to get rid of it you have to use some zoom. By then the zoom you add brings the wide end back up to where the camera was with no lens.

Telephoto lenses you can get away with aftermarket brands but for wide you only have a few that will work and they usualy arnt cheap.

Thanks. I would just like to know if this lens works with this camera.

Alas, the smaller lens is even more expensive than the bigger one. Given that the smaller lens does not vignette with the S2 or S3 (or the A6x0), I would hope it does not vignette with the A700/A7100, but that's one reason for my question.
