Canon Underwater cases? Anyone use them?

Intending to buy a compact Canon digital point and shoot and a matched Canon underwater case to have a compact "snapshot" and fish ID system for diving. Has anyone used these?
Considering the A540 or SD600, SD700 or SD800

I read about a guy who had one and he ruined his camera. The little cord you put around your wrist didnt get tucked in good around the camera and when he closed the water case it leaked in where the strap was and the whole camera got wet.
