or this guy....man there are a bunch of people that got their f/1.2 for less than $1300. this is very tempting.

there are two versions of the 85mm f/1.2L, out there.

The unmarked one and the "II"

You could get the unmarked at around $1200, when I looked last March

The "II" was over $2000, when I last checked. The big difference between these two lenses is that the "II" uses ring-type USM. A tremendous 1.8x speed improvement for that kind of cashola. Confirmation of this fact can be found easily and directly at the Canon website (http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelDetailAct&fcategoryid=152&modelid=12926)

You might want to do a little research on this before thinking someone scored the "big one." I really do not think this is true. :o They just got a slower lens for their money.

Anyway... be careful. :cool: That number "II" in the label means something. Usually, a lighter wallet afterwards. ;)

Don; they're optically the same lens.

The II has better coatings (for digital :rolleyes: ), ETTL-II, and faster AF.

That's the only difference.

I got the optical part... it's just the perseption of "the deal" that has me rather... annoyed. $1250 for the first one is no deal... it's really kind of average.

well i guess somebody had to take over for coldrain while he was gone. thanks for the info anyway.
