i wonder how fuji is pulling off ISO 3200 with that sensor? why is canon so slow in doing it? maybe they are letting fuji pave the way?
When you fallow how canon does it only the first few settings are usable i wonder how many are worth using on the F30? half of them? Think ISO 800 is usable on that thing?

i don't know, but the 3200-iso pics i have seen, were also almost useless :o
why is canon so slow in doing it?
because it dosn't make sens

more an answer than a question, isn't it ?

dont' know  and i even don't know if it make any sens ;)
the page did compare G7 at 200-iso 1/8s with the F30 at 800-iso 1/20s
i beleve the reason is to take the lowest-speed-setting possible to hold for the szene they have cosen for this purpose.
because of the IS wich the F30 dosn't have it is possible to go to 1/8s
as a film-user for 30 years, i do not beleve that i will ever need more than a iso-400 at 1/8 !
and if, i feel common to use a tripod, as i always did ;)
now i go and thake my gossen lunasix-f and see how this would convert with my analog 1.4/50mm zeiss objektiv (messured at my desk of my relatively dark comp-room):
2.8 - 1/8s - iso-400 = it would be 1-stop overexposed ! (i could go to 1/16s to have a clean shoot)
(i cant hold less than 1/60s by hand secure, and never liked to use higter speed than 100 in a reversal-film (i do shoot dia!)
1.4 - 1/60s - iso-100with 3 stops underexposing = 2 1/3 underexposed ( at iso 200 still 1 2/3 underexposed , i would have to take a iso-800 to get the 1/60s at 1.4  to get a clean shoot)
in my livingroom, one window's shutter closed, at 6pm i could choose from:
iso-400 - 2.8 - 1/15s
iso-200 - 2.8 - 1/8s
iso-400 - 4.0 - 1/8s
or
tripod and iso-80 - 8 - 2s (to get a nice shoot of the room)
i almost always use kodachrome iso 64 reversal-film

well i think they focus more on sensors more than OIS.. Canon is all in for the marketing and money at the time i think.. sooner or later, they will realize Fuji is pulling away with high ISO's and buy their sensors i hope :D that'll be the day!
as for the F30.. its usable up to ISO1600 believe it or not.. its crazy like that. ISO3200 still has pretty decent colours but details are lost.. but hey if its a 4x6 picture it looks pretty good.. and thats if youre shooting at night in a very dim bar and grill :) its even better in decently lit areas :D

Canon is using the MP thing to sell their cameras. We know that ISO is important but do the majority of the buyers?
There was a lady today shooting with a DSLR in sports mode with a 70-400 L lens and she didnt know what ISO she was shooting. I would think with the setup she had she would know. $4K camera setup, i was shocked she was using sports mode also.
