Hi,
I'm trying to get more familiar with a somewhat new D70. While in Gettysburg this week, on top of an observation tower, my camera started flashing an "F--", and an "r05" while trying to shoot. I was playing with the Aperture program mode so I am guessing it has something to do with the aperture, but it wouldn't let me change it, or even show what it was. Going back to automatic mode seemed to give me the same thing.
Any clues?
Thanks,
Prospero

What lens were you using? I think this error may have something to do with the lens. I get a similar error when I try using the apperture ring of my Sigma 70-300 (since the camera is opperating the apperture this ring is not used and should stay fixed at the minimum apperture).

It's a Tamron AF 28-300, and it sounds like it might be something like that. I also found the original manual and it says the blinking "F--" indicates no lense. I haven't removed the lens but it could also be a dirty connection.
Thanks,

Remove the lens and ensure the contacts are good (replace lens). Remove the battery for about a minute or two, replace the battery. If you are still having problems, try another lens, if you STILL have problems you may have a more serious problem

yeah you might just need to make sure that the lens is locked on its smallest aperture which would be on the aperture ring probably '22'. I was using the Quantaray 70-300 also and this happened to me a lot and I didn't know what was going on until I found a little lock to lock the lens in place which enabled me to use the lens on my D50. I don't think this is much different than the problem you are having.
