I have been reading up on memory cards in the past week or so, and I see that there is a compact flash card that is 16gb. Does anyone know if SD is going to go up there anytime soon, or if canon cameras can have more than 4gb?

I read somewhere that SD technology is expected to reach 32GB. Read it in passing can't recall the source. hth
Edit: Transcend Information, Inc., a world leader in flash memory cards, is very proud to announce its 8GB high-capacity SDHC. The SD card is the most popular flash memory standard in the world now, and the SDHC (SD High-Capacity) is the new generation of SD cards (Version 2.0). Formatted in FAT32, SDHC cards reach a maximum capacity of 32GB and can fulfill the high-capacity demand of the new SDHC devices such as Casio Exilim Z1000/Z600/S600 cameras, Panasonic DMC-L1 camera, and HP printer A/B. Now you can enjoy a high-quality digital life and store all of your MP3 music files, high-resolution pictures, and video clips in your SDHC card.

It dont see the point in having all your eggs in one huge basket

I'm using a Transcend 4GB card only to expand my camera's functionality for digital video. Theoretically, it holds about 1500 highest resolution, superfine photos. In reality, there is no way I could ever take anything close to that without having a computer handy to pull them off and start anew.

i agree, incase basket drops, all eggs may break.. i prefer to have a few eggs at a time in a basket ;)
3 2GB cards is more than enough I think.. if your camera has RAW, a couple of 4GB cards would do just fine in my opinion. just my 2 cents ;)

I go on trips all the time, and I always fill up my 1gb and 4gb card to the max, and often dont get to take all the shots I would like to. As long as these new cards are high speed ie. 150X+ then I would be very interested in buying a larger sized memory card. As long as the camera can support it :P

If the camera is a smaller MP camera then you wouldnt need a 4gig card but if its like 10MP then your gona fill it faster. If all your shots are in good lighting with lots of color and lots of stuff its gona fiill even faster! Oh and video :D
