So,
I've wanted a large ring difuser I could hold up for some outdoor stuff when the sun is being mean to me and at the wrong angle but I didn't want to spend money (How am I supose to afford a 135 F2L if I spend money on difusers!)
So I made one myself.
Total Cost: About 7$. Ring Diameter of 36 inches.
How?
I went to Jo-Ann's fabrics and bought a quilt hoop. It's basically a wooden ring with a joint connected by a screwing and wing nut with an inner ring. The idea being (as I understand it, I'm not a quilter) that you loosen the outter ring, lay the fabric over it, push the inner ring in and then tighten the outter ring till the fabric is held tight and stretched out in place. That's exactly what I did with a yard of nice white polyester blend fabric.
These were the "Cheap" rings but I figured, do I care?
Once I pulled fabric right and tightened down the rings, I pulled the fabric out and used my hand staple gun (Muahah! (said in Tim from Home Improvement voice) and stapled down the fabric to the outer ring.
Viola! Home made difuser.
So how does it work? Where are the pictures? I'll post a picture of it later today but to how it works that'll have to wait for my 30D to arive.
Edit: Picture added of Difuser.
