i think this is a translation:
i need filters!
what hoya circular polarizer should i buy from 2filter? does the different series (the different makes, linear vs circular / single coated vs multi coated) really make that big of a difference?
i think i found a macro set, what else would i need?
get a linear, because the s3 does not need a circular one. it can focus without the need for a circular one.
if you found a macro set... maybe get a telephoto lens?

yea linear will do just fine.. sometimes better than circs..
where did u buy ur lens adapter? shoulda picked up lens adapter + UV + linear pol. + DCR-250 all at lensmate :) i think its like $110 USD for all..
(which of course came up to $180 canadian for me... xprshipping to Canada + taxes/duty then convert that to CDN funds.. what a pain) but still well priced :)
anywho.... back to you... get linear, pick up a UV for the heck of it.. it will come hand when u take some snow shots (keep snow from getton on the lens and melting and then sipping in.. also the Hoya macro set seems like good value.. u should PM or ask JTL more about those.. but for me.. DCR-250 is the winner =D

karl... ive always wondered the reason why to buy the polarizer and UV? for most of the time, i keep my polarizer on. it reduces all glares and will also come in handy for those snow shots. is it because the UV filter is less expensive is disposible compared to the more expensive polarizer? i dont see the use of the UV filter that much =\... unless i am totally missing something here?

yea UV cuz its so cheap and the polarizer is much more precious and can cost 2-4x the cost of UV filters.. even thot i rarely use it now, i still recommend it because its cheap and disposable and is there for protection.. i do ask myself the same question u ask sometimes.. n im still not quite sure what the TRUE REAL answer it :(
i think its cuz the more filters u have the cooler u are

First things first, figure out what kind of shooting you do the most, then you'll have a good idea of what accessories you will really need.
all filters are not created equal! the only reason I use a UV filter is because it keeps my fingers off the lens. The reason I use a Hoya Pro1 is because it's multi-coated, thin, and it does not present itself as an impediment to IQ.
multi-coated - stops bad light from bouncing around and messing up the image.
thin - stays out of the way of the image
impediment - stays out of my way and delivers what I want, a clean clear picture.
I bought a polarizer because of a brochure and boy can it make sunlight behave. though not a miracle worker under the right circumstances it can have a rather dramatic effect.
The Hoya macro set is a good deal. hth ;)

Hey.. a U.V. filter is ADVERTISED as reducing haze in pictures. the way i understand this is smog haze so the objects in the distance are supposed to be clearer. Does it do that? prolly not. Never seen any evidence. It's just good to have to protect your lens. From all sorts of things, including stray fingertips.
