hi, i recently found a lens rental site, and i was wondering if anyone had any idea about them and how credible they are. this is their site:

lens rental site (http://www.lensrentals.com/)

given the prices for a short rental period, i think it's a great deal, especially considering we cant all start out with great lenses or need certain lenses for no more than a couple of rare occasions.

Unix,
I'm the owner of Lensrentals.com, the site you linked to. My name's Roger Cicala and we have a number of customers at POTN and FM. If you search for us on those sites you'll find plenty of positive comments and no negatives. There are several very good, reasonably priced mail order rental sites and I've not heard anything bad about any of them: we all seem to be reputable folks who are terminal gear junkies and love what we do.
Lenrentals is a little different in that we rent the larger telephoto lenses (up to 500 f4) as well as camera bodies, take reservations, and provide optional renter's insurance. If we can be of help, drop me an email through the site or at RCicala@yahoo.com

UNIX04,

I just completed a rental from Lensrentals.com and can say without any doubt, I received some of the best customer service I've ever encountered with them. Roger, the owner of Lensrentals.com, was very interested in helping me get the most from my lens rental with him. I had a few issues with the 70-200 f/2.8 IS USM L lens I rented but it was only because I wasn't used to using it. I wrote Roger an email and within 1 hour of sending it, he called me (at my request) and helped me through the issue, which was very minor (I cleaned the contacts on the lens by using an eraser of a pencil).

The lens he sent me was in EXCELLENT condition and arrived at my house very quicky with plenty of time for me to become familiar with it before having to use it on vacation. The price for the lens rental included return shipping and I also purchased the extra insurance on the lens (just in case). The cost was $110.00...what a bargain and VERY worth the price!

Roger takes a great interest in making sure your experience with Lensrentals.com goes very smoothly and is great at communicating via email with the renter.

Bottom line is...I'll be using Lensrentals.com again because of the service Roger provided and the quality of the lenses they offer. Plus, you can't beat the price!
