i can view my pics but when i switch it to camera mode it shuts off immediately. i replaced the batteries with no luck. its a Sony cybershot

did you use ordinary AA batteries?
if yes, then you shouldn't

use a 2000-2500 NiMh batteries
or use alkaline batteries.
