Been thinking about the G7 in light of recent Digic III cameras... SD900 samples looked pretty nice, better than the SD800 IS. (But still no Fuji.)
The larger sensor is no doubt at play there.
The G7 has the same sensor size and Digic III as the SD900. No doubt the lense is better than the SD900, and G7 has SR coating too.
So I'm still holding out some hope here. G7 could be pretty nice.
I didn't really notice it before, but from the specs it's actually pretty small too. It's not a shirt pocket camera, but it's a coat pocket camera. Sure we all wish it had RAW (likely removed on purpose to protect DSLR sales), and the flip screen from previous G's. And yes the lense is slower (but IS is good to have). But if you look at it as something different, it's not bad really.
A decent quality compact camera with some pro features that fits in your coat pocket easily. Not a bad idea really.
My only real concern is battery life. 220 shots is disturbingly low.
It's supposed to come out this month, so soon enough I guess we'll know how it fares.
