Hi Everybody,
Bought my Canon A95 a few weeks ago after reading the informative DCR review and most of my photographs that I have been taken are fantastic. however, I recently took photos at a wedding where the bride was standing outside of the church in the shade and when I downloaded them on my PC the brides white dress was "blue" as was the ground and all the other photos of the bride (getting out of the car) and including the cream Rolls Royce which was also tainted blue, and subsequently when I developed these photos they were just the same , so I'm at a loss why this should happen , the camera incidently was set at the Auto Mode for all of these photos.
This is the first time that I have ever used this or any Forum for help , so it would be appreciated if someone can tell me what I'm doing wrong.

The auto white balance settings on most if not all digital cameras are not very accurate. If by developing you mean printing, it sounds as if your monitor agrees with what is captured by the camera. You can adjust color temperature in PS, and choose a white point.

Hi TenD,
Thanks for your quick reply and sorry I meant "Printed" (although in the UK we mainly call it Developing ) anyway you seem to know exactly what I meant and it looks as thoough you also know the problem of the Blueness is my fault. however , I'm a complete Amatuer at this camera game and your answer to my problem...."Adjust the colour temprature in PS and chose a white point" is something I don't understand , I do know that on the camera in the P (Program AE) Mode you can adjust the Tone ( White Balance) but as I already said I'm a bit Dumb and still learning my way around this camera
and to be honest I've only taken photos in the Auto Mode to date , so TenD if you have the time and patience could you possibly explain a bit more in detail as it would be greatly appreciated.
Many Thanks again.

I also own an A95 and I haven't had any problems with my auto white balance, but if you are having some... and this is what TenD was saying, you should set the camera to Manual white balance and point to a white thing.

That way the camera will adjust all colors like that color to be white. You can also try to point at some other color than white just to get to know what your camera will do. But remember to set it back to white before you take any real pictures.

Just make sure that the white-balance is set to "auto" most of the time, especially when you are outdoors. This can be checked in the "function" menu. It sounds like you have white balance set to one of the indoor lighting settings by accident. The pictures should be recoverable using post-processing software.

Note: Even though you are in "auto" exposure mode, it doesn't mean that white balance is set to auto white balance.

In fact, you should play with the white balance to see what effects (some are interesting) you get using the wrong setting for the lighting conditions.

And have fun.
