Are you looking to sell stock-type photos to people for publication, such as in calendars, or are you looking to sell pictures taken at events to the people who were at the event?
That's what I'm trying to get into - shooting kids' soccer games, football, and so on, and having a site for people to buy pictures I have taken of their kid in the game.

how do you exactly do that? do you establish your own websites? does people invite you to certain events?

Quite honestly I would not bother. Unless you want to try microstock agencies in order to try to sell some photos then I'd just stick to having a site hosting your photos that you pay for.
I have 500mb webspace with 2GB bandwidth. I haven't really bothered too much with putting photos on or designing my photo wedsite too much. It is primarily just a site that shows some photos. It is not a photo sales website. I tried photo sales websites and they just do not work. I have a software sales website that works but it doesn't pay a lot.
Of the thousands of people with sales websites (it does not matter what they're selling) only a select few will actually make money.
