Ok, So Bower asked in a previous thread, "why don't they put rotating flash heads on the cameras" THREAD (http://www.dcresource.com/forums/showthread.php?t=24266)
So my question is, has anyone here ever taken any components of their flash apart?
My next question to anyone else, is anyone here good at working with Sculpey or Bondo or resin or anything?
My last question, then the idea. On either side of the flash arm, there are tiny set screws. I ASSUME these are there so you can slide the flash housing out and change flash bulbs, correct? If so, wouldn't it not be a far stretch to take that slide out and make a small boom that slides in the place of the flash housing and is held in place with the existing set screws.
The wires for the flash could run up the boom and at the end up the boom would be where the flash would be relocated- and it could be mounted on an up/down swivel.
This solves two problems- Swivel flash head. And, the flash would then be higher and hence you'd get less shadow if you use the flash with your adaptor tube on. And the higher set should reduce red eye as well.
The only problem i could see in design would be getting the swivel head to stay at the designated position, which i think could be resolved with a small thumb screw.
Any takers? If someone did this and made it work and posted examples of it working- would anyone here be willing to buy it? Assuming it weren't rediculously priced? Anyone think they can make it? And if tyou can, and would sell them.. can i have one for laying out the idea and design hehe.
Alright.. give me some feedback people.. any ideas anything i might need to work around? If no one else can do it, i'm willing to find somoene else who can actually work in the materials and try it out myself. I'd just rather someone else do it. :D
