What's the story with the s80? prices on the net seem to be $500-1000 and nobody seems to have it. Is it incredibly popular for some reason, or is there some kind of supply issue?

Well, I guess it has been a year since it was announced... With the dearth of wide-angles out there, I would have thought it would stick around a little longer...
