Hello,

Anyone would like to suggest a few, but handy and hopefully free, online photo website services? For example, flickr.com (evidently not free).

I came across others like multiply.com, and I'm hoping google could offer a service that is similar.

I dont have any near intentions of putting up a personal web page (a .com that I would own) for photos. Not in the meantime at least. Too stringed up with things at the moment.

Waiting to hear some good recommendations.

There are lots out there, as you know. But just to clear up your comment about flickr.

Flickr is free, and also has a PRO version. The free version allows 20mb of photo uploads a month (and there is a drag-and-drop upload tool, which automatically resizes to keep them small) with up to 200 images showing in your photostream at a time. The PRO version is $25 a year, and lifts these restrictions.

I like fotki.com.
You can have the free one. I think its also 20mb.
I think its 35 bucks a year for unlimited.

Free flickr doesn't allow full resolution downloads or albums, I think.

-Sony's imagestation is nice. The free version offers unlimited storage and you can get full resolution downloads for only $5/yr.

-Yahoo photos is upgrading and for free will offer unlimited storage and full res downloads.

-Photobucket is free and offers a lot of storage and full res downloads.

I like webshots, you can upload up to 240 photos for free without resizing the images.

Another vote for PBase.com here. I like they're clean layout and searching features.

Just came across a nice photo organiser called Picasa2. Its owned / managed by Google.

They also offer an online image hosting service that integrates with Picasa2, called PicasaWeb. Which makes for better photo organising and ease of photo uploading.

Ive always been fond of Google, and remain a satisfied customer. So I think I will stick with this service :D

The URL for those who are interested is at: http://picasa.google.com/

PS. There also this little button on the bottom right, that displays RGB histogram and camera information. It was able to detect my Canon Rebel XTi 400D :0 :)

I do use picasa and tried their online photo albums.. It was nice but I like the features in Pbase better..

On the google web-albums people still can't leave comments nor is there a guestbook.. These features may come in time, if they do before I pay another year at pbase I might switch..

The only way you can upload to google's picassa web site is with picassa software. That's how I understand it.

picasa software sucks! ive used that software like a year ago, and generally it got bugged and crashed so often, its a very slow image viewing software... although i still used it for a while because i like its user interface, its easy and understandable, but it crash again and eventually it erased half of my photos! and i dont know exactly how did that happen! well, that was a year ago, i hope they have fix this big bug already, they should have.

Anyways, havent anyone mentioned smugmug.com? its a nice site... though 35$ a year and no free membership! but the interface is nice, drag and drop upload tools, you can also upload through your photoshop elements. Nice features, interface and themes. Browse some sample sites and you will know what i mean. It also has the features to hide and customize your galleries, like setting up passwords and hints. which is very helpful to keep your privacy across the net. You dont wanna end up seeing your picture beeing used by hackers across the net to play around would you? anyways... if ever you've decided to go for smugmug, just use my email add drew_viii@yahoo.com which will give a $5 discount! so give it a try :)

Im sure they have fixed it by now. I was using Picassa 2 for almost a year before picassaweb got out, and havent had any problems with the software since. Moreover, Picassa 2 is still BETA / and not in final production so you may expect a lack of features or some minor bugs here and there

picasaweb has commenting now.. it is also ridiculously easy to create new albums.. like.. select the photos in picasa and click a button and give it a name and it resizes and uploads for you in seconds. that was extremely impressive to me. (my *extremely* limited gallery is here (http://picasaweb.google.com/damuma))
it's 250 megs for free which ain't bad. and if you need more you can just get a different gmail account.

the niggling drawback is that you seem to need to log into a gmail account to view the pictures (if that's not true lemme know). but i recommend everyone get one! hehe google is taking over and consolidating the internet, you might as well be on their side ;)

I have been using www.imageshack.us for a few days now and it seems to be fine for my purposes.
