I don't mean to be rude but I don't like it. I don't know whats up with the lighting if half is in shadow and you pushed the highlights partially in half the sky but it doesn't do it for me.

I think it is a very striking photo. I would be interested in seeing the original (pre-process) as well, to understand how you processed it. What an amazing sight! Great capture.

Hey Tim,

No offense taken at all. It honestly is more of an interesting "snap shot" than anything. It's just unusual that you catch a double rainbow. I REALLY wish I was in a better spot for composition purposes, but it was a family event and if I would have taken off in the car to chase it, my wife would have had my neck! I was under the overhang outside my dads garage. When I took it, it was still sprinkling so I really couldn't really go out any further. You may see some spots in the pic that look like sensor dust. I tried to clean up as many as I could.

It was an interesting sight. The sky WAS actually different colors like that. Lighter in the bottom, darker in the middle, and medium on top. Thought that was really odd.

Toriaj, I will post the orginal later this evening. Most of the processing that noticed that Kubota did was to the sky and rainbow itself. The sky was much more grey. I really only did those to things to it.

Dude this is a great shot. Come on. How many rainbows have you captured? Let alone doubles...

Oh I'm not saying rainbows are easy :p My rainbow shot is in a parking lot of a supermarket :p

I'm just saying I didn't like the sky differences, if it was really like that then thats different, thought he processed it to be "over the rainbow" 3 tier colors.

No doubt. The sky is wierd. But even so...I've never captured one...let alone a double....let alone in a decent location...let alone...:D

Seriously...it was that odd!! A little more toward greyish blue, but the Kubota action pulled up the blue. I'll post the unprocessed original later tonight.

I have no explaination why there were three gradiants in the sky divided by the rainbow.

Any weather people out there that can explain this??

Ok, here are the unedited originals.

See, the sky was WIERD looking. I have a UV filter on the lens, but that is how it looked to the naked eye. I included one that shows as much of the rainbow arch as possible. It's as wide as I could get with the 17-40 on the 1.6 crop.

Unedited original (again, spots are from getting sprinkled on...it was still raining when I took them.)

It is surprising how little PP there was in the picture! I think the PP is good, although I do think you can see the blue and green in the rainbow better against the gray sky. (Makes sense. )

this one was taken with a point and shoot, but since we're all talkin about double rainbows and the possibilities...i thought i'd share this :D

if you look closely, the lower rainbow forks into two....while there is another more faint rainbow on the top left corner. this shot was taken out in canada a few months back.

Your rainbow does not fork into two, just the blue doesn't register as well as the violet with your camera.

There are always two rainbows, when there is a rainbow. One brighter one which goes from inside (ultra)violet to outside (infra)red, the outside 2nd rainbow from inside red to outside violet. And inside the bright rainbow it always looks lighter, just the way the light gets difracted by all the little lenses (rain drops).

This morning there was a very clear double rainbow here, but when I finally had gotten my camera, changed lenses and set settings its intensity was way lower.

Now in the evening there was another one, quite bright but only with a very faint outer arch. You can see it on the left side of the photo, if you look hard enough.
