I live in Europe but frequently visit the US where a Nikon D80 costs about $400 less then back home. Does the charger have a built-in adapter so that I can charge the camera in Europe? Are there any other potetial problems I should know about? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Even if you have to buy a new charger (which you shouldn't as US chargers fit our UK shaver sockets and most chargers are 100-240v) then it surely won't be very expensive!

From what I've experienced, most if not all camera battery chargers are "world" voltage capable from 110v-240v 50-60hz.
So all you need is an adapter.
I'm heading to Argentina soon, I got my adapters from the company below. Just choose which country you're going to and they show which adapters you need.

Just wanted to confirm that this is indeed the case. I picked up a a Canon 300D in Hong Kong 2 years ago that came with the UK style plug and just bought an adapter for use with the american style outlets we have here.
Didn't have any problems at all.

One caveat you should be aware of. Usually the charger will work over the voltage range, but the power cord supplied for US voltages may not be rated for European voltages. So you may need a higher voltage rated cord as well as an adapter. When I was in Zurich this year I went into a camera store and they sold me a power cord that had the Euro type plug at one end and plugged into my charger at the other. A hardware type store would probably have them also.

Chargers don't draw a high current so fairly low amperage came would do well.
