Need a little help here from owner users , have done lots of research on the panasonic fz20 and am very impressed with the quality but in stores it is hard to get a real feel of action shots becuase they are all corded down to the counters so they dont walk away. most of my pictures are of my kids playing in sporting events and the auto focus needs to be very effective and quick my wife is very technophobic and does not want to have to deal with the manual focus, where I on the other hand love all the freedom of manual controls, thanks for your help in this matter. I was also looking at the Konica A2 but I think the panasonic has a better lens and faster response.

went to circuit city to see the camera and had the same problem. i asked the sales rep to dismantle the security junk and put in a battery and memory card so i could test the camera. i explained to them that i woulnt spend 600 dollars without playing with it first. they did all i asked, i even used my own flash card, to take the pics home and view them. i played with the camera for about 1 hour, and then went home and purchased it online for almost 100 dollars less! good luck, let us know how it goes.

Here are some "first time out with the FZ20" shots - "point and shoot" taken on the water from in a canoe.
All shots taken at 12X zoom and cropped to reduce file size in PhotoShop ...
