This shot was taken at a concert of NYC recording artist Jason Brody. I was hired to shoot the gig and I also became a fan. He is sort of like Jeff Buckley, very good. But back OT, I combined the natural stage lighting of this small venue with my flash (Sunpack 383) I shot it on manual using the flash at 1/8 of its power. Note, the shutter speed was 1/8th of a second, so you see image blur, but the flash "burned" his image onto the picture. I liked the results, so did Jason and his publicist - I believe they used it on his website:

Another pic from the same shoot, here, I was shooting in succession and the flash didn't fire (even though it says it did in the exif info). This is one thing I don't like about the Sunpack 383, it is hit or miss whether the flash will fire two shots in a row. And I have it set at minimum power (auto f2.0). So I played with it in PSE and this is what I got. The Jason Brody camp also loved this shot and will be using it on their new EP due out in December 04:

Jason Brody mixed lighting
Photo was shot using a small amount of flash (Sunpack 383- shot manually at 1/8th power) combined with ambient light

Jason Brody, recording artist
flash never actually fired, upped the gain and played around to get this effect. This shot will be used on Jason Brody's next EP due out December 04
