are the prints at the same quality?
- if i take the picture with a 6mp-camera
- if i take the picture with a 10mp-camera and set it at 6mp
or ist one going to make better pictures?
(in hi-fi it really is better hearing a cd from a cdplayer than from a sacd-player)

There is a lot more to the differences between a 6mp camera and a 10mp camera, so there really isn't a good answer to your question.
Optics and processing enter into the answer as much as the plain mathematics of the mp count.
The only real way to get a valid answer is to take the same picture with two cameras which will allow you to get a real comparison.
Depending on the camera, the 6mp camera may give a better picture than the 10mp camera will even when it shoots at 10mp.
The mp count isn't the most important factor in camera construction, despite the way the industry keeps on shoving it down our throats.
Another factor is: how will the picture be seen? Onscreen, printed on 4x6 paper, printed full-size? If they're both going to be printed at 4x6, then both of the pictures should be about the same, given the same shutter speed, aperture and ISO setting. If you're going to print them full size, then you might notice small differences. Which one will be better may well be a subjective decision, such as which restaurant serves a better steak: Outback or Texas Roadhouse?
May I inquire as to why you are asking the question? Are you considering buying a new camera and trying to decide which way you might go in looking at new cameras?
