I awoke at 5:30AM as usual to do my exercises (bending my right index finger 20 times to ready it for automatic cameras) and noticed that the night's rain had left a thick mist. I headed off to the park to photograph it.

Some time after first light, but before sunup, and everything looks almost monochromatic.

Sunup, and it breaks through the trees to light some goldenrod.

The first direct rays, like a spotlight on the goldenrod.

A member of a Tai Chi group that meets in the park at dawn, backlit by the low sun.

The sun's a little higher and brighter...

A photographer's dream: the sun is at its best, but hasn't burnt off all the mist yet.
