Budget
i want to go less than $500.
but i'll go up to $700 if it's really worth it.
Size
nothing big or cumbersome. i have small hands
How many megapixels will suffice for you?
at least 5.
prefer 6 or more.
What optical zoom will you need?
3x-4x would be okay in an awesome camera
but i would love 10x-12x
How important is “image quality” to you? (Rate using a scale of 1-10)
10
i'm looking for the highest image quality and lowest noise i can get, outside of a dSLR
Do you care for manual controls?
yes. i want a camera i can learn with.
What will you generally use the camera for?
i like to take macro shots and nature shots
Will you be making big prints of your photos or not?
doubtful.
Will you be shooting a lot of indoor photos or low light photos?
some. usually macro.
Will you be shooting sports and/or action photos?
seldom
Are there particular brands you like or hate?
no prefrence
Are there particular models you already have in mind?
i've been eyeing the canon S3 IS as a nice all around camera
as well as the fuji S9000
Do you need any of the following special features? (Wide Angle, Image Stabilization, Weatherproof, Hotshoe, Rotating LCD)
i would really like image stabilization. hotshoe would be nice, since i want a camera i can learn/grow with.
summary:
i want a camera that can take awesome pictures, even if i have to learn to use it first,
but i'm not ready for a dSLR and the multiple lenses.
and i hate noise.
i'm also in no hurry. i probably won't be buying my camera for a couple of months.
so if there's something new coming out that i should keep an eye on, let me know.
thank you one and all
