What's the conversion for 35mm format lenses?

G'day to all,

I will be buying the D80 (body only) soon.

i intend to use my analog AF Nikkor D-lenses on the D80. One is the 20mm 2.8 D lens and the other a 24-85mm 2.8-4.0 D lens.

From the kit lens (18-135mm digital) which i sampled, at 18mm, the field of vision appeared like 28mm in film format. This appear consistent with the conversion factor of 1.5x.

So, if i attach my 20mm lens (35mm film format), what does this convert to in digital terms; a 13mm (divide by 1.5) or 30mm (x 1.5)?

And in terms of viewing angle in the D80, would the 20mm (35mm film format) lens appear as a wide angle or normal?

The crop factor for DSLRs is generally 1.5x. It does vary slightly but 1.5x is near enough.
A 50mm lens on a 35mm camera body is the equivalent of a 75mm on a DSLR.
All lenses, even ones specifically designed for DSLR use are designated in 35mm terms for focal length.
