Hi,
I have long been a Minolta user. I have a Maxxum 7 with a lot of lenses and accessories. I tiptoed into digital with an A1. I would really like to get a 7D since I am familiar with Minoltas. I always hear that Minolta is behind on digital, and that Canon and Nikon are better. My concerns: (1)Minolta selling out to Sony. (2) Learning curve associated with switching brands. (3) Possible problems with some 7D cameras (only hurd blurbs on ebay). (4) Hope that the slow focus and bad ISO quality of the A1 are not a problem on the 7D.

If/when I buy it will probably be on ebay, so I won't be able to test the cameras.

Thanks for any comments.

Well, since I am a 7 and 7D owner, this will be a biased reply. :) I went with the 7D for exactly the same reason - already had a 7000, 700si, and 7 film camera with many lenses. Even though I got my 7D about three weeks before the KM announcement about getting out of the camera biz, I haven't regretted my purchase. I really like that the 7D uses so many exterior controls, just like the 7. On my particular camera slow focus and ISO quality (up to 800) have not been a problem for me.

Good luck with whatever you deicde.

Either get a Sony A100 (higher pixel count(10 mp), more noise in higher ISOs) or a KM 7D (lots of controls instead of setting things via menu on screen, 6mp, clean higher ISO).

Both are good cameras, and the A1 can in no way be compared. Of course a Canon EOS 30D will be a very nice camera too, but you have the lenses for a KM/Sony, so best take advantage of that.
