I am considering purchasing the FZ15 and checked one out at a local retailer. I found the neckstrap bracket on the right handgrip is oddly placed and in the way when pressing the shutter button or zoom ring. Has anyone else found this to be a problem? Can it be removed?

Never ran into a problem with it myself, never even noticed the placement of the bracket proximity to shutter button until you mentioned it. I think unless you have really really small fingers, it shouldn't be a problem (ie. my wife is only 4' 10" and has not had a problem with it).

Perhaps I wasn't gripping the camera properly? I probably have average or slightly larger than average hands (I'm 5' 11-1/2"). It would be helpful if someone had a picture - perhaps from the manual - of how Panasonic intended the camera to be held/operated without interfering with that bracket.

I'm not that tall but my hands and fingers are rather large for my size (I have my grandfather's fisherman hands) and my forefinger is placed slightly around the top front of the camera, doesn't actually touch the bracket at all...there's a fair amount of distance between my finger and it. I can, however, see how someone with larger hands may have an issue with it. I think at worst though, you might rest against the bracket, which would actually seem to be a little advantageous from a stability perspective.

That said, I guess it really is relative to what's comfortable and how one naturally grips things. Sorry I couldn't be of more help....
