Just got the d80 + kit lense yesterday, unfortunately the weather has been lousy, very misty and damp, but that didnt stop me going out and taking photos,I really like the setup,I also have a d70s and 18-70 lense,im finding I am prefering the d80,, the rear screen is so much easier to see,the viewfinder a lot better(I wear glasses) the kit lense is sharp albeit a tad soft i'm certainly enjoying using it,
At the moment i'm shooting jpeg and have no problems with the quality of the photos,I cant even post any photos as I dont know how its done,
all ive got to do now is sell my d70s:D

That part puzzles me... it is either soft or sharp, it can not be both :p. And as a side note, it really is 'lens'. not 'lense', although some dictionaries wrongly also mention 'lense'.

I am glad you are happy with your new toy! I just hope you will get some nice lenses for it in future.

Coldrain,,I am a newbie and my terminology may not be up to scratch,I thank you for putting me right on the lens spelling,I do however feel you were a tad catty with the second remark,I do this for a hobby and am fairly pleased with the results.

It was not intended 'catty', just reading about how the 18-135 is not capable of showing what your new toy is capable of, and hoping that in future you will be able to afford some really nice lenses like that 90mm macro you have...

sorry Coldrain if I sounded a bit off ,the lens is sharp what I meant to say instead of soft was the lens as shot was lacking a bit of saturation, but then again it was a lousy day and im still experimenting with it,,cheers:o

Coldrain, Previously I looked up the proper spelling of "lens' in the dictionary to try and nicely correct a posting you wrote that many of us took as arrogant and confrontational. If you recall, the newbie poster to whom you replied did take offense at the abrupt response when you told him he spelled 'lens' wrong.

Unless you have a PhD in linguistics then I think I'll side with Websters dictionary. I find many of your posts informative and entertaining but the above statement regarding dictionaries is too much.

Looking forward to your response,

Bob

Hi Bob, Please dont let this thread get out of hand,I appreciate you replying,it was not the spelling of lens that i was upset about, but the wording of the second part re getting better lenses,i just took it the wrong way, I have had replies from coldrain in the past and found him very informative, thanks
