I recently ordered an FZ20K from 'amphotoworld.com' only to find out (thanks to resellerratings.com) that the company is a super bait-and-switch scam (I canceled the order today).
I really want the FZ20K but balk at paying over $500 for it (especially since I'm in Hawai'i and shipping here is outrageous).
Can anyone offer suggestions of a RELIABLE AND HONEST company to purchase this from that might also offer a good price and/or free shipping?
I also tried to get it from Amazon, as they usually ship free to Hawai'i but they funnel that camera through Circuit City which wanted to tack on an additional $46 for shipping :(

Did you check the compare price function on resellerratings.com? I just did and they have one company selling it for $449.99 but that company has yet to be rated. I just bought mine from cameta camara in NY--found them on ebay and they had a really good rating on resellerratings.com. The price wasn't that good but I got a lot of accessories that I won't have to buy later--bag, SD card, battery, table tripod etc. They shipped the next day and I was given a tracking number for UPS!
Anyway I'm brand new to this site so maybe one of the "veterans" has some better advice.
I still go with, "if it sounds too good to be true it probably is."

Ya... I checked the prices from resellerratings.com, froogle.google.com, dealtime.com and a couple of others. But even on resellerrating.com most of the better prices are scams (and for ones that they don't rate, a google of the company name and 'scam' usually results in a few good horror stories).
I was hoping, since it's a fairly recent camera, for a few opinions from people who were happy with their purchasing experience.

I bought mine from buydig.com about 2 weeks ago. I paid $480 but they raised the price to $529 now. They do have free shipping but not sure if they cover Hawaii or not. I bought it from on-line and they did not push me to buy any extra accessories. They have pretty good review and couple of my friends bought it from them without any problem too.

Try giving My Digital Palace a call at 800-514-3506. Listen to the prompts and press the one for if you know your parties extension. Press 226. That will connect you with Frank. He was great to deal with, had good prices and is a nice guy. He will work with you on prices and accessories etc. Please tell him that Jeff from Colorado gave you his name and contact ino. Hope this helps.
PS. please read what FZ20knowitall has to say in the above question about Add-Ons. His reply is dated 11/17/2004. Will let you get the right filters and adapters and hood on the first try instead of purchasing a couple hundred dollars of less than the best for the camera accesories.

Sorry, but your post makes me think your part of the bait and switch scam operation, not that I'm saying you are - but the tone of the post certainly leans that way.
Note that http://www.resellerratings.com/seller6930.html they rate a 0.0 out of 100 and just about every comment indicates that they person buying was screwed.
In fact, that's just the kind of place I don't want. I should be able to plunk my CC down and get a box in a couple days. Not talk to 'Frank' who will try to hard sell me shit I don't need and then pass off a Japanese version of the camera without warrenty on me. No thanks. I was already in that position once.
I bought mine for $489 US at Tri-state camera (www.tristatecamera.com). However, I did not buy it online, I went directly to the store as I am in New York City (where they're located). They have perhaps the worst phone customer service I've ever seen, even in person a couple of them leave a lot to be desired, but they have the best non gray price I've seen.
