I've been looking for a splash proof camera and it would have been really helpful if there was a 'splashproof' or something feature in the database search >> http://dcresource.com/reviews/cameraList.php
So far, it's only steves-digicams that I've seen that has this feature.
Although I mean, I know canon for example offers underwater cases for ridiculous prices - so I think this option should refer only to ones that are splashproof out of the box.
My reasoning for this is, while obviously not as many people would look for this feature as say 'image stabilization' or 'x-inch lcd' or 'long zoom' I think that with the popularity of digicams right now, and even with the explosion of 'serious' photogrpahy as a hobby - there are also more and more people who do not really care for manual controls who are looking for camera. these are ones who just need a camera they can take to the pool side or the beach or like in my case when kayaking when I certainly leave my d70 at the shore.
Thanks.
