So... three young men... siiting at the doorway, real to give their Pop his Father's Day gift, eh?

What was in the gift-wrapping? A wireless release? A close-up filter? A new wallet?

Going to be a rugged, fun-lovin' crew... looks like, from the nice, sharp focus you'd gotten with this one.

I was hoping for a 50mm f/1.2 L - but all I got was a pair of gloves and some paint rollers courtesy of the Fathers Day stall at Kindergarten.

Oh well, maybe next year!:D

Baaahhh - enough with these cute kid shots. They should be out workin' in the fields, earning their keep. When I was their age... :D (sorry Christian - it's like an addiction whenever I see these gorgeous kids of yours... :o )

Well... if you pay attention the facial expression of the one on the right, you can see that he just has been told to wash daddies car.

Hope you had a good Father's Day.
How old are they?
My three boys are 15, 13 and 10.

Thank you. They are (in order L to R): 3 years, 5 years, and 10 months.

So same as you except 10 years behind!

Fathers Day was forgettable: I spent all day in the yard preparing for new turf and my wife reversed out of our driveway into a parked car (second time she's done this in two years  )...

You may be aware that I drive Chevy Avalanche. The problem with a truck like this is that the rear window only allows you vision of short-things more than twenty feet away... and no closer, so you can hide a troop of kids behind it and never know they are there... when backing up. Disaster-city!

Out of desperation for fear of hitting some poor midget or child riding up behind me on one of those sinster "Big-Wheels", while I am backing out of my driveway, I added a rear-view camera to the trailer hitch... which allows for a clear view of everything behind the vehicle, at about a foot off the ground. Three feet behind the truck, I can actually see the ground... and yes, it works at night... with the backup lights illuminating.

In effect:

NO MORE BLIND SPOT!

Okay, here's the scenario... car 5-feet from my bumper
(Look at how high the rear lip of the truck is, compared to the car.)

What I see... in the rear view mirror
(remember, the car is five-feet tall, the roof ten-feet away.
You can see the black-lined "horizon" of the rear of my truck.)
14952

What the trailer hitch camera sees...
(Hard to miss that, huh?)

The scenario from the side...

A close-up of the tiny camera's location...

The monitor has a second video input so that I can also plug my EOS 20D into it for quick and better review of shots, when I'm out and about, and far from home or watch a rented DVD-movie without the hassle of having to go all the way home and watch it on the big-screen TV (yeah, right! ).

The system is wired to automatically come on whenever the vehicle is placed in "Reverse". In any other transmission selection, the system shuts off, again, to avoid distracting the driver. It also does a nice job of monitoring the trailer hitch, when it is inserted, if need be. :)

Sounds good in principle Don, but she has reversing sensors and she still hit the car - all the best technology in the world is useless if you don't pay attention...

Pay attention or pay something else... higher insurance claims.

Can I ask... how do you ignore reversing sensors? On the other hand, forget I asked.

I asked the same question Don...

The answer was something to do with five kids in the car all playing up at the same time and she was in a rush. No excuses, just reasons.
