I haven't yet made the plunge into the dSLR world, but I can tell I will eventually. Does anyone have any magazine recommendations? Today I bought the latest issues of Popular Photography, Shutterbug, and PCPhoto. I'll use those as a basis, but I'm wondering if anyone has found one or the other (or some different one) consistently good? I'd like one geared a little more to beginners, with lots of tips and techniques.

My very favourite is Photography Monthly (http://www.photographymonthly.com/) from the UK. It is $10 in Canada, but worth every penny IMHO.

They don't spend too many pages talking about cameras, instead talking about composition, techniques, critiques and photographers of note.

I must second that vote for Photography Monthly. It's costs me about $100 / yr to get it delivered to the US but it's worth it (except they spell words like color "colour" wrong.)
"American Photo" is good but is only published 4 or 6 times per year.
"Popular Photography" is borderline lame but I'm keeping my subscription anyway.
I'm seriously considering canceling my "Shutterbug" sub. They are just so out of touch. They're still mired in 1980's rangefinder cameras and how to best print B&W film photos. Their reviews are 6-8 months late and their technical advice is totally lame. A couple of months ago there was some guy telling people to buy external hard drives for the Rebel XT b/c large fine .jpgs take up 40MB of space per photo - instead of the 2-4MB they actually do. Stuff like that drives me nuts.

Much appreciated, everyone. The three issues I bought were my only options at the store I was at. I'll go to Borders soon and see if I can find some of the others mentioned.
