Weeeeeee, the used 10D hath arrived. Put it through its paces, seems OK so far. Put in Metz with standard foot. No fire!!! Uh-oh. Tried Canon foot, it fires. <puzzled now>
Cleaned contacts with alcohol swab, no go. OK noticed that foot isn't quite sitting flat, so loosen lock and hold flash to body, putting pressure in different ways. Flash fires depending on pressure. <aha moment>
Checked hotshoe, seemed tight. Checked hotshoe guide, looks bent! <ugh but relief> Went to get tweezer, screwdriver and needlenose, popped off plate, unscrewed hotshoe off, and crimped it back in place. Wiped contacts clean and put it back together. <crossed fingers>
Put Metz back, it fires. Beautiful! Hold at -90, +90, 180, fires!!! Woohooooo!!!!!!!
It's a lil beat up, but hopefully the shutter will last a while.
The other thing that came in the mail today was the 28-75 Tammy. In pitch dark, it worked fine with the AF assist on the Metz, but I have yet to review the images on the computer.
Initial impressions: Plasticy (noticeably cheaper feeling than EF-S lenses imho), AF appears slower than USM, and the usual stuff that reviews say like the focus ring moves, no FTM, reverse turning zoom, yadda yadda.
I'm not really sure why I got this but -- I think I was intrigued with Andy's tests. Hopefully, it's a good copy and, if not, back it goes to the store.
