Ok, that Sushi Restaurant that wants me to shoot some of their items is getting closer. What I gotta figure out is what lens is gonna be best for this project.
I am sure my 28-135 is not even a consideration
the 17-40 or the 50 1.8 are considerations.
HOWEVER -- is there a better choice for around $500??
35 f/2, 85 f/1.8, 100 f/2.0 or 2.8 macro, budget push 135L??
Suggestions???

My vote for a macro (or ext tubes) or a TSE (mucho expensive tool).
I probably would just bring your current arsenal though and work with it, for now. Better to work on the proper lighting/style, and then see what the client says. Bring a jar of oil or something so you can dab it on the food to make it shiny.

You have a softbox to put the food in to disfuse the light well?
Better investment I'd think.

Definitely agree with the above post - focus on the lighting - good lighting will make the shots look professional. I would suggest a small softbox as your only addition...
