I bought myself a Canon 30D. The image size/frame size of the viewfinder does not match with real image size. The real image is bigger. This is really annoying, as I can't frame it exactly how I want it to be. Cropping all the images in Photoshop might be a solution, but also a hassle. What I see in the viewfinder might be about 90-95% of the real image. How is that? Isn't a camera like this supposed to handle this right? I would appreciate your help!

I don't see how that can be annoying. It's giving you a bit more, not less..which is the way most crop cameras do it. It would be a real problem if the sensor was only 95 percent of what the viewfinder showed!
You can learn to shoot with the extra view in mind...or just crop it off if you're that anal about it.

This is why you can never really crop in a <100% viewfinder. ;) :D :p
Seriously, you'll get used to it and be taking great images. Good luck.

Hey all, we must appreciate something .. :p
The current crop ... of DCRPers (at least those participating in or being entertained by the recent closed thread) will appreciate a long line of inside "cropping" jokes.
Good one noyjimi!
To the OP: Yeah, they pretty much all do it. When one achieves 98% or 100% they put it in big bold letters. Don't know why it's so hard to achieve, but you just have to add 5% to the outside when you snap the shot.

Hehe, ROFL guys.
monolake76, apologies for the thread distraction. Your question was perfectly valid and hopefully answered effectively by the posters. I (or we) were just reminded of a recent thread of discussion regarding cropping, from your question -- nothing that you did.
Oh, and welcome to the forums!

Ohh, you guys. I'm not feeling too inspired tonight, went for the simple substitute.
To the OP (Original Poster), hope you're liking your 30D otherwise! Fine fine camera! We'll laugh about paying this kind of $$ in 5 years from now, but many-a-pro is depending on this very unit.
