I know I would like this feature on my camera, found this on another forum (call me a whore:p )
anyone heard of them

As far as I understand, those split screen focus screens can interfere a bit with the AF stuff, that is why you do not see them in AF cameras as standard.
With the EOS 5D you have the choice of 3 focus screens for different applications.
It is nice for manula focussing, but be aware of that your AF can show less performance and/or your viewfinder can be darker.

I don't use them because they affect the exposure metering. They're also horribly expensive. They're cut-down Minolta screens, apparently.
KatZeyeOptics and Hoada are the two main suppliers of aftermarket screens. They're fiddly to install but those that have swear by them. I prefer to steer clear of non-Canon modifications.

yeh, the exposure part is a bit of a worry.
Wish Canon would do it out of the box, dont know about you guys but manually focusing is not as clear as it could be
