I bought this camera on eBay, it was a great deal because the lcd is broken, but its tough to notice when its a few hundred feet up. Physically, it is a wonderful little camera, Canons are built like ipods...very nice. Optically, it stinks. I swear my lesser Canon A510 takes significantly better shots. If you are curious about the radio control plane part, the camera is rigged to a GWS Slow Stick. The fourth channel on the radio actuates a servo which presses on the shutter switch. It added about 7oz to a 13oz plane, shes a little sluggish, but gets the job done. Anyway, here are some shots of the hazy Sacramento valley...

uh oh...I think I submitted this to the wrong area.

Mods, can you please move this for me? My mistake, sorry about that.

Nice photos. I tried strapping a wireless camera to a gasoline/oil mix powered 1/5th scale onroad R/C car; however, their was too much vibration for the camera to handle. Eventually, I tried it on a small electric but it just wasn't the same because of the layout. I also never bothered to try it on any of my nitros though that is originally what I wanted to use the camera on.

Although I own two 1/5th scales, I own one even larger--a 1/4 scale. One of my cat's uses it as a bed. There is one photo of him laying on it on my website though the depth of field is lacking since I took the photo of him without using the flash--I didn't want to disturb his sleep and was unable to use a tripod as well. Oh well, I still thought the photo was cute.

Those shots are cool! R/C is a fun hobby but man can it be expensive.:o I was in that one for a while. I tried planes but i crashed em all. I had a few 1/8 scales nitro buggys. I sold most of them but a 1/10thscale offroad losi truck a couple HPI sedans and a 12th scale carpet car.

I like the technical part of R/C more then driving them or flying. Its cool to put them out on the track and showing you can put everything all together and do it but my driving skills suck. Being in a chair my field of view is bad and its hard to juge the depth where you are on the track.

There is a really good online R/C racing game i play every now and then. http://www.virtualrc.com/ you should check it out if your into R/C its one of the best R/C games ive played so far. Very competitive

I have the Traxxas T-Max and the Nitro 4-Tec 2.5
I put one of my cheapo digital cameras on the T-max and when I hit this jump, I captured a photo when the truck was doing a double back flip. Ill see if I can find it.

How did you get it to snap at the right time?

I was thinking the other day to hook servos to a platform that moves and swivels a camer on a tripod. Rotate, and tilt done by a cheap 2 channel remote

You could make it like one of those astronaut simulators, the one where while your flipping forwards, your also flipping sideways, and then your going all over the place.

the camera is rigged to a GWS Slow Stick

I also have a slow stick, mine is made out of hardened styrofoam, its red, and it has the black Maltese cross on it. When I went to put a bigger battery pack on it so that it would last longer, it wouldn't take off. I am surprised on how you got 7 ounces into the air.
