I am a newbie who just purchased a S2. I want to take action shots and there is no sports mode, how can I deal with this in the simplist way.

Also, lens? Canon sells a Tele converter lens and a Wide converter lens. Are these worth purchasing?

Filter kits should I buy. If so, which one?

Can you recommend a tripod?

Thank you for any and all information.

Use a large appature 2.5, then use the fastest shutter you can. You may have to run a high ISO to get a fast shutter.

I just took a few pics with my S3 outside in sports mode and it was set to ISO auto, 1/160th and F2.7 the pictures were a bit blury because of the ISO i think it defaults to 80 when in auto.

Larger apature F2.7 will alow more light, higher ISO like 200 will alow more shutter and that will stop the action better.

What i found that works good is to focus on the ground where i think the shot will happen and focus there then hit manual focus button to lok the focus then all i have to do is pan the subject.

This is the one i prefocused the shot on the road then clicked as he zoomed buy.

what also give great results is panning.
Point the camera to the action and follow it (will mostly happen in motorsport or running). The 'object' will be sharp while the background will be blurred by the panning (at lower shutter speeds ofcourse).
It needs some training to get the panning perfect, but the results will be great :D
