I just made the jump to digital SLR with the Nikon D200. I'm a relative newbie and now I'm asking myself, "Have I bitten off more than I can chew?" :)

Anyway, the kit came with a Nikor 18-70mm 1:3.5-4.5 lens. Is that lens just designed for general photo taking? So far, that seems to be the case.

What lens is best for scenic / landscapes?
What lens is best for close-ups?

I know that every shooting situation is different, but I'm looking for some general guidelines on best setings (ISO, aperture, etc.) for above. I picked up the Nikon D200 Digital Field Guide. It is okay but I'm really looking for more of a "cheat sheet" with simple steps. I can dig into the deep stuff over time.

As always, thanks for the help.

For scenic: Tokina 12-14 and Sigma 24-70 f/2.8 or you can get the more expensive Nikkor version

Close up: Tamron 90mm f/2.8 Macro

These lens are great!

I will begin shopping today and find out if I can make my wife angry, too.

LOL. I've also got the cheat sheet (plastic coated version) for my camera as well as the field guide. ;)
