I have a 1gb sd card at the moment, any idea if filters etc are neccessary?

Just get a filter kit and a matching tube that fit the filters.

If you get a 52mm filter kit then get a matching 52 adapter and cap.

get one from lensmate, its anodized aluminum. while the canons are plastic. theyre good enough, but why not aluminum for same price or less?

greece is a beautiful country, lots of skies.. so i would like to suggest a nice circular polarizer. heres a quick demo of what a polarizer can do for u:

the UV filters basically just protect your lens from the elements.

between 52mm and 58mm, it depends on your needs.. i would personally get the 58mm just because it seems like there are more extra's (filters, lens, macro, etc..) I can get in 58mm sizes.. and I believe if ur using extra lens there would be less vigneting with 58mm just cuz its bigger (wider) maybe i need someone else more experienced to confirm this. and also cuz 58mm looks seksier =D

hope this helps

PS:
heres a link to the lensmate adapters with pictures of both the 52mm and 58mm adapters

Sure you'd want a UV filter and maybe extra batteries and a micro cloth to wipe your stuff with... But I'd spend any extra bucks on getting an extra 52mm conversion tube and the Raynox DCR 6600PRO -

My best special shots were usually always wide angle. You can always walk up a little closer and forego the tele extender, but in tight quarters, with your back against the wall and the shot still not wide enough, you can't just walk through the wall! IMHO, of course.

As soon as I get some extra scratch, I plan on getting this combo. Right now I'm paying my CC bill for the S3.

Thanks for the fantastic info guys, i think im going to go ahead and get the canon 58mm adapter just now, and then the 52mm lensmate a little later because that would not arrive before i go on hol seeing as im in the UK. Im also going to be getting a circular polarizer, seeing as the effects of having one in that environment are so drastic! any recommendations as to which 58mm circular polarizer filter i should get?! as i build my accessory collection more and more ill deffinately be going for the Raynox DCR 6600PRO that januaryman suggested! the shots look amazing!
